SAP Business One chosen by Selcast for its operation control

Selcast Oy, a company manufacturing and marketing electrical installation accessories and industrial components chose SAP Business One system for its operation control. The objective was to create a system supporting the company's fast pace production. For this purpose Profiz implemented an expansion module for the SAP Business One system.

Selcast Oy specializes in the manufacture and marketing of electrical installation accessories and industrial components for demanding conditions. The main focus of operations has traditionally been on manufacturing installation accessories and components in the form of light cast metal enclosures.

Selcast set out to seek a functioning system mainly for the planning and control of its production. In the company's activity important targets to be monitored include e.g. loads, sales capacity and personnel resources. Selcast previously used character-based software for production control and work time monitoring, but more flexible production control implemented in accordance with the renewed model was desired now.

The most important success factor of Selcast's component manufacture is control of entity. "We have the personnel, machine and equipment resources required for component manufacture. We design and manufacture tools and dies. In addition to pressure and die-casting machines, our further processing capacity comprises e.g. machining, surface treatment and assembly. In practice, the manufacture of a product always starts from an order. The real benefit afforded by the SAP Business One system will be that each employee receives up-to-date information about both the available and future capacity and needs.", tells Technical Director Krister Lundqvist.

Selcast gave up its old system entirely in November 2005 and the SAP Business One system in an overall manner currently supports the business activity of the company employing 30 persons. "Everyone is currently using the SAP Business One system, including regular, temporary as well as rented workers", adds Mr Lundqvist.
